EXAMPLES OF TEXTURE

REPETITION
Repetition of lines or shapes will create a pattern within a work of art.  The pattern becomes a textural effect.

SPATTERING
An artist can spatter paint onto a work of art with a paintbrush, toothbrush,  or straw.  The artist could also add dots or speck to the work, which can become shapes.

RUBBING
By placing a paper onto a textured surface such as a rock, leaf, pavement or tree and rubbing a crayon or pencil on the paper the artist will transfer that textured surface to their paper.

DAUBING
By taking a sponge or wad of paint soaked paper and daubing them onto the paper, an artist can create a textured look to his/her artwork.
